Who is Moutta Farm?
Did you know? The name "Moutta" comes from a feudal motte in the Béarn region of France, where the farm settled in 2007 and where the remains of an old castle were found.
Moutta Farm was founded in 2007 in the Béarn, around a simple idea: raising composting worms to produce vermicompost. Since then, Moutta Farm has been shipping its worms all over Europe and has designed its own worm composters, starting with the WORMbox.
The Moutta Farm brand brings together the products we develop or have manufactured to support vermicomposting: Eisenia composting worms and fishing bait, hemp mats designed and made in France, the 5-accessory pack, WormFood, RegulaWorm, and WORMboost. Moutta Farm vermicompost complies with the French NF U44-051 standard.
In 2026, Moutta Farm is also launching its own line for the garden and home: Bokashi activator, ceramic EM beads, and even Willy, our plush mascot. All Moutta Farm items come with a 2-year warranty.
Questions about Moutta Farm products
How many composting worms should I get?
We recommend 8.8 oz (250 g) of Eisenia composting worms for 1 to 2 people, 1.1 lb (500 g) for 3 to 4 people, and 2.2 lb (1 kg) or more for larger households. The more worms you start with, the faster your worm bin gets going. For a backyard composter, plan on 1.7–3.4 lb per cubic yard (1–2 kg per m³).
Which hemp mat should I choose for my worm composter?
Choose the shape that fits your model: round for WORMbox, Eco-Worms, and Can-O-Worms; square for TinyWorm, WORMcube, Lombribox, and City Worms; rectangular for Worm Café, Urban Worm, and Frutero; oval for Urbalive and Magic Worm. For any other model, the XXL mat can be cut to the shape you need.
Which accessories should I get to start off right?
The 5-accessory pack brings together the essentials: 2 hemp mats, 2.2 lb (1 kg) of WormFood, 2.2 lb (1 kg) of RegulaWorm, 16.9 fl oz (500 ml) of WORMboost, and a mini mixing rake. It isn't required, but it makes day-to-day care of your worm composter easier. Every Moutta Farm accessory is also sold individually.
Which worms should I choose for fishing?
For fishing, Moutta Farm offers three live baits: earthworms (1.6–3.1 in, or 4–8 cm), dendro worms (2.4–3.9 in, or 6–10 cm), and Canadian worms (5.9–7.9 in, or 15–20 cm). They come in 3.5 oz (100 g) or 8.8 oz (250 g) tubs, or in bags.
