The Bokashi activator / starter / booster is essential for getting started and speeding up the fermentation of organic matter while effectively controlling odors. It turns food scraps into compost quickly and cleanly through a natural maceration process in a bokashi bucket or a composter.
This 2.2 lb (1 kg) bag of Bokashi activator is made with EM-1 microorganisms®, known for their effectiveness. These beneficial bacteria trigger the fermentation of food waste by helping it dehydrate, with no rotting and no foul odors. It is the very first Bokashi activator made in France, produced by Moutta Farm from carefully selected local raw materials: the wheat bran comes from the Gers (32) and the molasses from Béarn.
We use only official EM-1® developed by Professor Teruo Higa, the pioneer and inventor of Bokashi, to guarantee optimal, natural, and well-controlled fermentation.
A little goes a long way: 4.4 lb (2 kg) of activator is enough for a two-person household for about a year, making it a cost-effective and sustainable solution.
Use and dosage
It is simple and easy for anyone to use. Just sprinkle a thin layer of about 1.4 fl oz (40 ml), or 4 tablespoons (or two scoops with the 20 ml spoon), directly over all the organic waste in your composter. For best results, add a little activator at the end of each day of use.
Beyond Bokashi, this activator offers many benefits for the soil. It improves soil fertility, rebalances microbial activity, and brings depleted soils back to life.
It can also be used in an outdoor composter to boost decomposition and reduce bad odors, or sprinkled on the surface of pots and planters to stimulate microbial life in the potting soil.
To keep it fully effective, store the activator at room temperature, away from light and moisture. After each use, squeeze the air out of the bag and reseal it as tightly as possible. Its eco-friendly resealable kraft zip bag keeps it fresh for a long time.
