Your questions about the 20 ml spoon

The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.

The 20 ml measuring spoon lets you precisely measure what you add to your bokashi, composter, or worm composter:

Compact and sturdy, it helps you avoid adding too much or too little.

Yes: a 0.7 fl oz (20 ml) measuring scoop is included with our Bokashi Urbalive and Bokashi Confort, as well as with our kit for making your own activator.

Sold on its own, the 20 ml measuring spoon comes in handy as a spare scoop, for a second setup (a worm composter and a bokashi bin, for example), or if your bucket didn't come with one.

Sprinkle some on every time you add food scraps, in a thin layer over a layer of scraps no more than 0.8 in (2 cm) deep, then press it down. Amount per addition: 1.4 fl oz (40 ml).

In an outdoor composter, use 2 spoonfuls of 0.7 fl oz (20 ml) each time you add a large amount of scraps.

For your worm composter, using the 20 ml measuring spoon:

  • RegulaWorm: 1 spoonful per week, to keep the pH close to neutral;
  • WormFood: 3 spoonfuls before each time you go on vacation, so your worms have plenty to feed on while you're away.

A 0.7 fl oz (20 ml) measuring spoon is equivalent to about 2 tablespoons. This is the equivalence given in the instructions for our Bokashi activator: 1.4 fl oz (40 ml), or 4 tablespoons, which is two scoops of the 20 ml spoon.

With this dedicated spoon, you get the same dose every time.
