Who is Skaza?

Did you know?

In France, the town of Saint-Omer helped its residents get set up with Bokashi Organko bins. The fermented scraps that residents bring back are then used to fertilize the town's parks and green spaces.

Plastika Skaza was founded in 1977 by Franc and Martina Skaza in Velenje, Slovenia. Today the family business is run by the second generation, Igor and Tanja Skaza, and employs around 250 people.

Skaza is known for its commitment to recycled plastic. The Bokashi Organko 2 is made from recycled polypropylene. It was designed by the Slovenian studios Gigodesign and Kabinet 01 and received the Red Dot Award in 2019. The Bokashi Organko Essential, made from post-consumer recycled plastic, was a finalist in the 2023 Plastics Recycling Awards.

Moutta Farm, a composting specialist that has been raising composting worms since 2007, chose Skaza for its practical, durable Bokashi composters that are easy to live with every day.

Questions about Skaza products

Bokashi Organko 2 or Organko Essential: which one should I choose?

The Bokashi Organko 2 (2.5 gallons / 9.6 liters) is slim and discreet, perfect for a small kitchen. The Bokashi Organko Essential (4 gallons / 15.3 liters) comes as a kit of 2 buckets, ideal for a family or anyone with a large volume of food scraps.

Why get 2 Bokashi buckets?

With 2 buckets, one fills up while the other ferments, so you're never stuck. That's why the Bokashi Organko 2 comes in a set of 2 and the Bokashi Organko Essential is sold as a kit with 2 buckets.

What else do I need besides a Skaza Bokashi composter?

You'll need bran or EM microorganisms to start fermentation each time you add food scraps. The liquid you collect can be diluted and used as a fertilizer for your plants. You'll find everything you need in our Bokashi composters section.
