The Bokashi Organko Essential lets you compost your organic waste. Thanks to its design and practicality, it will fit perfectly into your kitchen.
It is made from recycled plastic packaging.
This 2-bucket kit includes all the essentials you need to get your Bokashi composter started.
Bokashi is not traditional compost but rather a fermentation process that breaks down food scraps. It relies on EM (Effective Microorganisms) as an activator, which are added to the Bokashi to speed up the fermentation of organic waste.
The word "bokashi" is a Japanese term meaning "fermented organic matter." It is indeed fermented by EM (friendly bacteria). These bacteria speed up the fermentation of the organic matter in the composter.
Bokashi has positive effects on the soil: it enriches the ground, nourishes the garden, and helps our planet by reducing everyday waste. Composting with a Bokashi is very simple. Thanks to its design, discreet look, and compact size, it makes an ideal kitchen composter.

Our high-fermentation Bokashi EM-1 activator is made by Moutta Farm!
Our ingredients are carefully selected, and we use the official EM-1 from Professor Teruo Higa, the renowned inventor of bokashi, to guarantee superior quality.
We use raw materials sourced from our region: wheat bran from the Gers (32) and molasses from Béarn (64).
WHY TWO BOKASHI BUCKETS?
The advantage of the 2-bucket kit:
While fermentation is underway in the first composter (for 15 days), the second one is available so you can keep adding new food scraps (for the next 15 days).
We recommend using two Bokashi buckets. Once the first one is full, it must stay closed and rest for 2 weeks while the food scraps ferment. In the meantime, you can start filling the second bucket, which is ready to go!

Benefits
This indoor composter has several advantages:
- It features a spigot so you can enjoy the benefits of compost tea without handling the waste.
- Large waste-processing capacity: 2 x 4 gallons (2 x 15.3 liters).
- Its practical base holds the bucket and includes a pull-out drawer to collect the compost tea easily.
- A wide compactor lets you press down the waste efficiently without getting your hands dirty.
- It includes two composters: collect organic waste in one while the other finishes fermenting.
- Its ergonomic, ultra-sturdy handle makes carrying and moving it easy.
How it works:
- Put your cooked and raw food scraps in the composter.
- Sprinkle with two tablespoons of Bokashi activator.
- Press down your scraps with the included compactor to squeeze the air out of the organic matter.
- Keep the lid closed at all times—the less air, the better.
- Drain off excess liquid using the spigot at the base of the composter.
Once the bucket is full, empty the contents into a small hole or trench in your garden (or into your yard waste bin, a worm composter, or even at a local drop-off center).
At this stage, the waste will be fermented but not yet decomposed. It needs to go into the ground to physically break down into humus (soil). Alternatively, the organic matter from the bucket can be added to your backyard composter. For best results, keep this organic matter covered with soil and other compostable materials.
