The best of outdoor aerobic composting, with no effort!

A European exclusive from Moutta Farm: discover the premium 64.7-gallon (245-liter) tumbler composter everyone is talking about. Designed to make composting simpler while making it faster, cleaner, and more efficient, it revolutionizes the way you handle organic waste in your yard.

Say goodbye to old static compost bins tucked away at the back of the yard, which are hard to turn and attract odors and pests. With the Maze rotating composter, there's no more turning compost by hand and no more fighting off rodents.

245L Rotating Composter

Faster, effortless composting

Thanks to its patented geared crank rotation system, just a few regular turns are enough to aerate the contents thoroughly. The result: compost that breaks down 2 to 3 times faster than in a conventional composter, given the right temperature conditions.

The ergonomic handle makes turning the drum easy, while the geared ratchet automatically locks the rotation for safe, comfortable use.

Dual chambers: continuous composting

Its biggest advantage is its two independent compartments.
When the first compartment is full, you start filling the second. While one batch matures, you keep adding to the other. By the time the second one is full, the first is ready to be emptied.

You never have to stop composting.

Dual chambers: continuous composting

Multiple adjustable vents promote optimal aerobic decomposition, reducing odors and speeding up the transformation of your scraps into rich, balanced compost.

Features

  • Dual chambers with divider included,
  • Patented geared crank rotation system,
  • Ratchet lock to prevent back-rotation,
  • Sliding access doors,
  • Adjustable vents,
  • UV-treated high-density plastic,
  • Corrosion-resistant frame (zinc powder coating),
  • Stainless steel hardware.

Comes with instructions and an assembly video.

Optional handy cart that slides under the composter

Optional: a handy collection cart, designed to slide easily under the composter's openings. It lets you collect and empty finished compost cleanly, effortlessly, and without mess. The ideal accessory to make harvesting easier and carry your compost to your yard or vegetable garden.

Easy-Turn handle: fit your Maze 245L rotating composter with a triple-gear reduction handle and cut the turning effort by up to 3 times.

Easy compost harvesting

The large sliding doors make it just as easy to add scraps as to remove finished compost.
Generous clearance under the composter lets you easily slide in a bucket or cart for collection.

⚠️ Reminder: this composter works without composting worms.

Built to last, this composter is made of UV-treated, weather-resistant high-density plastic.

It sits on a corrosion-resistant tubular metal frame with zinc powder coating, and all of its hardware is stainless steel.

  • Rodent-proof,
  • Odor-proof,
  • Resistant to impacts and outdoor conditions.

What can you compost?

Sort your yard waste and organic waste into two main categories: "greens" and "browns," also called "soft" and "hard" waste.

1/3 greens or soft waste
Greens, making up one third, are fresh organic matter rich in nitrogen and carbon, such as grass clippings, weeds, fruit and vegetable peels, spent flowers, eggshells, and plant-based food scraps. Do not add leftovers such as meat, fish, shellfish, or ashes.

2/3 browns or hard waste
Browns should make up two thirds. This dry organic matter mainly provides the carbon that microorganisms need, plus a little nitrogen. For example: coffee grounds, dead branches, wood chips, wood fiber/shavings, dried plants, dead leaves, and cardboard cut into small pieces.

Your questions about the Rotating composter 245L

The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.

The 245L rotary composter is our largest dual-chamber model. It's the smart choice for a family of about 4 people with chickens, or for a yard that produces a lot of waste. It's also the only one compatible with the EASY-TURN handle, which makes turning easier.

For a smaller household, our more compact 180L works the same way.

No, the 245L rotary composter works without worms. Decomposition is handled by the microorganisms (bacteria, fungi) already present in the scraps. The regular turning and the heat that can build up inside the drum aren't suitable for composting worms.

To give it a boost, many of our customers add Bokashi activator starting with the very first scraps.

All our tips: Worm composter or traditional composter: which solution is right for your waste?

Three accessories are designed for your 245L rotary composter:

Add our Bokashi Activator starting with your very first scraps, and a kitchen compost pail to collect peels and food scraps in the kitchen.

The 245L rotary composter comes as a kit, with detailed instructions and an assembly video. Our customers recommend working carefully and setting aside about two hours. Each part is labeled with a letter in the instructions.

If a part is missing or arrives damaged, email us with its letter and a photo, and we'll send you a replacement. Remember to retighten the nuts and bolts from time to time.

Yes, the 245L rotary composter is built to last outdoors. Its drum is made of UV-treated high-density plastic that stands up to the weather, and it sits on a corrosion-resistant tubular metal frame coated with zinc powder. One customer wrote to tell us it works perfectly, even in winter.

It comes with a 2-year warranty from Moutta Farm, and both its crank handle and its crank arm are sold separately in our store, so your composter is easy to maintain over time.

In the 245L rotary composter, aim for 1/3 green material (peels, plant-based leftovers, grass clippings, wilted flowers, eggshells) to 2/3 brown material (cut-up cardboard, egg cartons, paper towels, dead leaves, untreated wood shavings, coffee grounds). In winter, half and half is enough; in summer, be sure to keep about 70% dry material, since fruit is juicier.

No meat, fish, shellfish, or ashes. Bones and seashells are too hard to compost. The list is also on the last page of the 245L instruction manual.

All our advice: Worm composter or traditional composter: which is right for your food scraps?

With the 245L rotary composter, expect 2 to 6 months on average, depending on the temperature and what you add. In winter, activity slows down considerably. One customer emptied their first chamber about 5 months after starting it.

Thanks to the two chambers, you never have to stop: when the first one is full, it matures while you fill the second. A few regular turns of the handle are all it takes, so there's no need to turn it every day.

The 245L rotary composter has no spigot. The liquid drains out underneath the drum, so slide a tray or our 14.5-gallon (55 L) collection cart under it. Dilute this liquid 1 part to 10 parts water before watering your plants. If there's a lot of it, add some cardboard.

The plastic is UV-treated, but a spot sheltered from the rain is still best. Keep the filling openings facing downward, not toward the sky, so water can't get in.

Yes, I've been using the composter for 4 months and there are still herbs/grasses that haven't composted. I turn it two to three times a week to mix it well, but there's still no compost.

Reply from Moutta Farm
We are sorry to hear that your composter is not yet giving you satisfaction.

To obtain quality compost, it is essential to keep a good balance between materials: about 70% carbon-rich materials (dead leaves, brown cardboard, small twigs) and 30% nitrogen-rich materials (kitchen waste, fresh grass).

Plants and grasses can take a long time to decompose, especially if they are added in too large a quantity or if the mix is unbalanced. We also advise cutting them into small pieces and making sure to maintain suitable moisture as well as good aeration.

With a good balance of materials, decomposition should gradually speed up.

I contacted the Ferme du Moutta for after-sales service with 2 broken parts on this composter. After 2 email exchanges over 2 days, I was able to order these 2 parts and received them within 8 days, for a very modest price. Well done. Thank you

Rotating Maze 245 L

Put into service: 20 June 2025

Switched from left to right: 13 September 2025

Emptied left compartment: 17 Nov 2025, i.e. 5 months after starting the left compartment.
Nice compost.
Works very well, I'm skeptical about how it will hold up over time, I'll be watching the plastic this winter. The stand for the whole unit is a bit flimsy.

Very good build quality, simple and clever assembly, good capacity, a product I recommend. Plus, it's made in Taiwan, which is a thousand times better quality than Chinese-made.

Easy-to-assemble product with a well-detailed instruction manual. Since the rotating composter stands on legs, it keeps rats away and it is easy to use.

The Maze Rotatif 245L is a good unit. But there are still a few small things the manufacturer should improve:
- The ventilation openings are very small.
- When both chambers are well filled, turning the crank is very difficult: a lower gear ratio would be preferable.
