Aegir is a 100% natural source of limestone, made from shell fragments from the North Sea. Rich in calcium carbonate (96.1% CaCO₃), it raises soil pH gradually and lastingly, without shocking the soil's microbiology.
Thanks to its coarse structure, the calcium is released slowly, providing a long-lasting buffering effect (up to 3 years) and natural stabilization of soil acidity. In addition to calcium, Aegir supplies a wide range of minerals and trace elements that benefit soil fertility and structure.
✔ Suitable for use in organic farming
Benefits
- Lasting pH effect: gradual, stable action;
- 96.1% calcium carbonate;
- Improves soil structure
- Increases nutrient availability;
- Respects soil microbial life;
- Active buffering effect for up to 3 years;
- Natural product, no chemical processing.
Uses
- Spread on soil with a lime spreader, compost spreader, disk spreader, or by hand.
- Mix into Bokashi to control the pH of the pile.
- Improves pastures, crops, and vegetable gardens.
- Horses can stay in the pasture during application.
Why choose Aegir?
Unlike standard agricultural lime, which dissolves quickly and only works temporarily, Aegir releases its calcium carbonate gradually, providing a gentle, lasting pH correction.
A balanced pH means:
- Better nutrient uptake
- Optimal microbial activity
- Increased fertility
- Lasting improvement in yields
Recommended application rates
-
Maintenance liming:
About 446 lb per acre (500 kg per hectare) every 3 years.
-
Acidic soil (correction):
About 892 lb per acre (1,000 kg per hectare), applied once in the first year.
-
Small areas:
6.6 lb per 646 sq ft (3 kg per 60 m²).
About 2.2 lb per 108 sq ft (1 kg per 10 m²).
-
Recommended program (complete soil improvement) for 108 sq ft (10 m²):
2.2 lb (1 kg) of Aegir.
2.2 lb (1 kg) of Edasil.
2.2 lb (1 kg) of Vulkamin granules.
11 lb (5 kg) of Bokashi mulch.
Spray Microferm diluted to 1–2% in non-chlorinated water.
Ideally, repeat every fall for 5 years, then maintain yearly as your soil requires.
Aegir is the natural, economical way to restore and maintain the biological balance of your soil, while respecting its microbial life and long-term fertility.
