The WORMgarden, formerly known as JardiComposteur and made in France, is an innovative planter with a built-in worm composter.

It lets you easily create a vertical garden or vegetable garden inspired by the keyhole garden technique.
Ultra-stylish, practical, and easy to use, it combines composting and growing to feed your plants directly and naturally.

It's the only vertical garden with a very large composting area at its center and 6 growing pots per level, plus a spigot to collect drained irrigation water.

WORMgarden worm composter with tomato stake

Specially designed to house your worms in its central section, it works thanks to composting worms. These worms fertilize the soil and turn your organic food scraps into rich, healthy compost for your plants.

Practical and intuitive: just lift the top lid to add your peels, and the worms naturally turn your scraps into useful resources.

The WORMgarden features a bottom drawer for easy harvesting of vermicompost, as well as a spigot to collect excess irrigation water or rainwater, with a capacity of up to 2.6 gallons (10 liters).

Modular and expandable, it consists of several tiers and can be set up outdoors (patio, yard…) or indoors, depending on your needs.

Comes complete with:

  • 1 to 3 planters with 6 compartments each,
  • 1 water collection base,
  • 1 drawer + 1 sliding gate,
  • 1 spigot,
  • 1 user guide + assembly instructions.
  • (*) Worms and flowers not included ;)

Composting worms reproduce naturally: 8.8 oz (250 g) is enough to get started, and the population then regulates itself. It's easy to use: just add a little water and some food scraps from time to time.

WORMgarden planter with 6 growing areas

Durable and stable, the WORMgarden is extremely sturdy and impact-resistant. Its double wall of food-grade polyethylene provides excellent insulation in both summer and winter.

Your questions about the WORMgarden

The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.

The WORMgarden is available with 1, 2, or 3 planters, each offering 6 growing pots around the large central composting area, for up to 18 growing spaces. If you cook a lot of vegetables, we recommend the 3-planter model for maximum capacity. The WORMgarden's built-in worm composter processes about 4.4 lb (2 kg) of food scraps per week. All three versions are the same width, 24.8 in (63 cm); only the height changes. You can add a planter later on, up to a maximum of 3 per base.

All our tips: Worm composter with planter: WORMbox, WORMgarden, Transfarmers, WORMacotta...

Yes, the WORMgarden can be set up on a patio or in the yard just as well as indoors, as long as your plants get enough light. Made in France by rotational molding from impact- and UV-resistant food-grade polyethylene, the WORMgarden worm composter has a double wall that insulates the worms from the heat in summer and the cold in winter. Once the planters are filled with soil, the whole unit becomes heavy. Its lid helps keep pests and odors in check around the composting area, and one customer particularly appreciates that it keeps the worms safe from rodents.

To get started, 8.8 oz (250 g) of Eisenia composting worms is all you need: the population then regulates itself. To expand your vertical vegetable garden, add a planter for WORMgarden: you get 6 more growing areas, with up to 3 planters per base. Our spigot + gasket for worm composter is compatible with the WORMgarden, and all of its parts are sold individually: lid, drawer, slide divider, and water-collecting base. For planting, our set of 3 wooden gardening tools comes in really handy. The WORMgarden comes with a 2-year warranty and a free online training session by video call.

Once the WORMgarden is assembled, place clay pebbles at the bottom of each growing pot for drainage, then fill the pots with potting soil that contains no chemical or organic fertilizer. Worms are not included: 8.8 oz (250 g) of composting worms is enough to get started, and the population will then regulate itself. Settle them in the central area of the WORMgarden on moist bedding (cardboard torn into small pieces or coconut fiber), along with a few food scraps. After that, just lift the lid to drop in your food scraps, and add a little water from time to time.

All our tips: How to start your worm composter, step by step

In the WORMgarden, finished vermicompost is harvested through the bottom drawer, without disturbing the worms, which stay in the upper layers close to the fresh food scraps; the slide divider separates the drawer from the rest of the composting area. To keep the WORMgarden's drawer sliding smoothly, line the bottom of the planters with clay pebbles, which make the whole unit lighter, use no more than 3 planters, and flip the slide divider over when you pull out the drawer. You can use the harvested compost right away in your pots or in your vegetable garden. You'll find all our tips in our guide: How and when to harvest vermicompost and compost tea

The spigot on the WORMgarden's base lets you collect excess water from watering or rain. The base can hold up to 2.6 gallons (10 liters) of it. This water, having passed through the soil and compost, can be reused to water your plants, so nothing goes to waste. The spigot is easy to replace if needed: our spigot + seal for worm composter fits the WORMgarden, as well as the former JardiComposteur, which the WORMgarden replaced. All the other parts (planter, lid, drawer, slide divider, and base) are also sold individually.
