Vulkamin® is a 100% natural basalt rock powder of volcanic origin, known for its exceptional absorbency. Rich in minerals and trace elements, it improves bedding quality over the long term and helps create a healthier environment for animals.
Made from finely ground prehistoric rock, this volcanic powder acts as a natural regulator of moisture and fumes in barns, stalls, and deep-litter bedding. It is naturally gentler than lime, so it is less harsh on skin, mucous membranes, and cows' udders.
Thanks to its strong binding capacity, Vulkamin® traps ammonia and other nitrogen compounds (nitrates, nitrites, phosphates), limiting harmful fumes and unpleasant odors. Stalls stay drier, the air is cleaner, and there are fewer flies.
Benefits
- Very high moisture absorption capacity;
- Binds ammonia and greatly reduces odors;
- Reduces the formation of nitrates and nitrites;
- Healthier air and fewer flies;
- Beneficial effect on hooves and claws;
- No nitrogen loss through evaporation, unlike lime;
- Enriches manure and soil with minerals and trace elements;
- Helps improve soil fertility.
Its naturally disinfecting effect also supports healthy hooves and claws. By reducing moisture and irritants, it helps prevent respiratory and foot problems.
Vulkamin® is the ideal natural mineral solution for improving animal comfort, sanitizing livestock buildings, and making the most of manure while respecting the soil's natural balance.
Uses
Vulkamin® is applied by sprinkling it by hand directly onto damp areas of the bedding, alongside straw, flax, or sawdust.
It works just as well in standard stalls as in systems with mats or deep-litter bedding.
Suggested dosage:
About 0.8 oz per sq ft (250 g per m²) per week, applied regularly year-round.
For a stall of about 97 to 129 sq ft (9 to 12 m²):
2 × 1.65 lb (750 g) per week, depending on how damp it is.
With Microferm:
Prepare a 5% solution: 1.3 gallons (5 L) of Microferm to 26.4 gallons (100 L) of water.
Spray 1.6 quarts (1.5 L) of this solution in the barn 3 times a week (equivalent to 2.2 fl oz (65 ml) of Microferm diluted in 1.6 quarts (1.5 L) of water).
When bedding enriched with Vulkamin® goes onto the manure pile, it keeps working: ammonia is retained, nitrogen loss through evaporation is limited, and the manure is enriched with essential minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, as well as trace elements like silicon, zinc, and titanium. The manure becomes a richer, more balanced amendment for farmland and pastures.
Completely non-toxic, Vulkamin® can be used safely with cattle, horses, sheep, goats, poultry, and rabbits.
