The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.
Yes, this spigot fits directly onto the leachate tray of the Urbalive. It replaces a lost, broken, or leaking spigot. For a WORMbox, a WORMgarden, a Magic Worm, or a Worm Café, please choose our spigot + seal for worm composters instead. If you're not sure about your Urbalive, send us a photo of your worm bin by email and we'll check with you whether the Urbalive spigot is compatible.
The leachate tray filter for Urbalive is the perfect match: it holds back the solid vermicompost so that clean worm tea flows gently out of the spigot. The Urbalive wooden legs raise the worm composter and leave room to slide our 1.1-quart (1-liter) leachate collector underneath, which is graduated with dilution markings. That way, you can collect your natural liquid fertilizer day after day. The Urbalive spigot comes with a 2-year warranty.
Installing the Urbalive spigot is easy: screw the spigot in by hand into the hole underneath the leachate tray, no tools needed. Then make sure it closes properly and doesn't leak before putting the filter back in, followed by the first tray.
Yes, leave the Urbalive spigot open at all times, with a container underneath to collect the worm tea as it drains, so nothing sits stagnant at the bottom. The Urbalive's wooden legs leave enough room to slide a bottle or our leachate collector underneath. If the flow slows down, clean the leachate tray once a month by removing any vermicompost that has built up in it, and rinse the spigot.
