The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.
Yes, this drawer is the original replacement part for the TinyWorm: it slides into the slot in the leachate tray. It replaces a damaged or lost drawer. If you have an older TinyWorm or a worm composter from another brand, just send us a photo by email so we can check whether the TinyWorm drawer will fit.
The TinyWorm drawer lets you harvest mature vermicompost sooner, even before you rotate the trays: the compost slides down from the leachate tray into this sliding, micro-perforated drawer in a continuous flow. That way, you can enjoy your homemade fertilizer without waiting for all the trays to fill up.
All our tips: How and when should you harvest vermicompost and compost tea?
Simply slide the TinyWorm drawer into the slot in the leachate tray before setting the first tray in place. It slides out just as easily for harvesting or cleaning, and it stands up to moisture and repeated handling. The harvested vermicompost can be used directly around the base of your plants.
The vermicompost from the TinyWorm drawer is a highly concentrated natural fertilizer, about 10 times more potent than regular compost, so use it sparingly: 30% vermicompost to 70% potting soil. You can also sift a 0.4–0.8 in (1–2 cm) layer over the top of your pots. It feeds the roots every time you water, for several weeks. Stored properly, it keeps for up to 2 years.
