Pink EM® Ceramic Beads are designed to purify water thanks to their unique porous structure, which acts like tiny sponges for pollutants. They quickly remove chlorine, limit algae growth, and improve overall water quality.
These beads are made from Kibushi clay fermented with EM® Effective Microorganisms and EM-X Gold®, then fired at high temperatures (1,470–1,650 °F (800–900 °C)) to stabilize the material. Kibushi clay, known for its quality, comes from Seto, Japan. The firing process preserves the energetic information transmitted by the effective microorganisms.

Your questions about the Pink EM beads
The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.
The pink beads are fired at a lower temperature (1,470–1,650 °F, or 800–900 °C), which makes them more porous. According to the manufacturer, this gives them a high adsorption capacity, but it also makes them more fragile. They're designed for cold water: pitchers, vases, aquariums, ponds, hot tubs, and swimming pools.
The gray beads are harder, last much longer, and can handle hot water.
The pink beads pair well with our gray beads: for a more neutral taste in a carafe, our product page recommends using the two together. They also split the uses between them: the porous pink beads are made for cold water (carafe, vase, aquarium, pond, hot tub, swimming pool), while the gray beads, fired at a higher temperature, go in the kettle and the coffee maker, where the pink beads could break down.
No. According to the manufacturer, the porous structure of the pink beads allows them to adsorb a portion of certain substances, but they are not certified filters or water treatment devices: water that isn't safe to drink stays unsafe, even with pink beads. These effects, as claimed by the manufacturer, have not been demonstrated by independent studies.
If the water has a plaster-like taste at first, leave the pitcher uncovered, rinse the beads, boil them for 10 to 15 minutes, and discard the first soaking water.
First, soak the pink beads overnight in a bowl of clean water. The next day, take them out and let them air-dry, then boil them for 10 minutes and let them dry again before putting them in the water or the aquarium.
Repeat this routine every 3 to 4 weeks for maintenance. Please note that the beads are small, so store them out of reach of young children.
For a carafe, use about 38 pink beads per gallon (10 beads per liter); for larger volumes, go by weight. Here are the doses from our product page:
carafe: about 38 beads per gallon (10 per liter), 15 to 30 minutes;
vase: about 38 beads per gallon (10 per liter);
aquarium: 1.1 lb (500 g) for 132 gallons (500 L), in a mesh bag;
hot tub: 2.2 lb (1 kg) for 264 gallons (1,000 L);
natural pond or swimming pool: 2.2 lb (1 kg) for 2,640 gallons (10,000 L).
Our product page recommends replacing the pink beads every 6 months to maintain optimal adsorption capacity. In the meantime, clean and recharge them every 3 to 4 weeks: soak them overnight, boil them for 10 minutes, then let them dry.
Don't throw away used beads: you can put them in your garden or in a flowerpot. A broken bead should no longer be used for drinking water.
