EM-Silage® is an innovative microbiological additive designed to optimize the fermentation of grass, corn, cereal-legume mix, immature cereal, or moist (crimped) grain silage.
It contains a specific blend of Effective Microorganisms (EM®), including both homo- and heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria as well as live yeast.
This unique combination enables rapid acidification, better pile stability, and higher energy value from the forage.
Ready-to-use liquid product (dilute in water before application).
Benefits
- Rapid pH drop (stabilizing between 3.8 and 4.2);
- Improved aerobic stability;
- Prevents heating at the silage face;
- Reduced dry matter losses;
- Inhibits undesirable yeasts and molds;
- Increased energy value;
- Improved palatability and intake;
- Direct support for animal performance.
Mode of Action
✔ Rapid acidification
Lactic acid bacteria quickly convert soluble sugars into lactic acid, causing a rapid drop in pH.
This early acidification limits undesirable fermentation and stabilizes the silage.
✔ Improved aerobic stability
Heterofermentative bacteria also produce acetic acid, which inhibits the growth of wild yeasts responsible for heating and losses at feedout.
✔ Cultured yeast action
The live yeast in EM-Silage® produces bioactive metabolites (enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants) that:
- improve digestibility;
- enhance nutritional value;
- limit mold growth;
- contribute to better palatability.
Why choose EM-Silage®?
EM-Silage® is the only inoculant combining selected lactic acid bacteria and live active yeast, offering a comprehensive approach:
✔ Fast, controlled fermentation
✔ Long-lasting pile stability
✔ More palatable, higher-energy forage
✔ Improved animal performance
✔ Greater profitability
An effective microbiological solution to turn your silage into high-quality feed.
Directions for Use
- Dilute EM-Silage® in water according to technical recommendations.
- Standard rate: about 0.25–0.5 gal of EM-Silage® per US ton (1–2 liters per metric ton) of fresh forage.
- Apply evenly during ensiling (spray onto incoming forage).
- Ensure thorough packing and quick silo sealing to maximize the microbiological effect.
