EM® Ceramic Rings are made from clay fermented with Effective Microorganisms (EM®) and then fired at a high temperature (2,192 °F (1,200 °C)).

This firing process permanently stabilizes the ceramic’s properties. The EM® do not survive the firing, but their information is retained in the clay’s structure.

EM® Ceramic Rings - Revitalize water

The ring shape makes for easy attachment and simple cleaning. A single ring is enough to effectively treat a container, even a large one. EM® Ceramic Rings can be used for more than 10 years as long as they are not physically damaged.

How it works with water

  • EM® Ceramic Rings work on the principle of resonance. They revitalize water and help to:
  • Reduce scale and mineral buildup
  • Limit oxidation
  • Improve the taste and overall quality of water

The water becomes more pleasant and better structured.

Food Preservation

Thanks to the same principle, the rings help water and food keep longer.

Placed in the refrigerator or a fruit bowl, they help keep produce fresh longer.

Used in cooking water, they can also enhance the flavor of your dishes.

Your questions about the EM ring

The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.

Choose the size of your EM ring based on the volume of water. Size S (outer diameter 1.4 in (35 mm)) is for small containers like a pitcher, kettle, saucepan, vase, small aquarium, or dog or cat bowl, holding up to about 0.8 gallon (3 liters). Size L (outer diameter 2.4 in (60 mm)) is designed for large volumes: a bathtub, large aquarium, horse water trough of up to 66 gallons (250 liters), or rain barrel of up to 264 gallons (1,000 liters), according to our product page.

With the EM ring, a single piece is enough per container, even a large one, according to the manufacturer. Thanks to its ring shape, you can easily attach it, for example to a piece of string, and fish it out effortlessly. It also cleans up in seconds. No more tiny beads to count or hunt for at the bottom of the pitcher or waterer.

Like our gray beads, the EM ring is fired at 2,192 °F (1,200 °C), which makes it very durable.

Not the way a water softener does. The manufacturer presents the EM ring as a way to improve the taste of water and reduce scale deposits, but these effects have not been demonstrated by independent studies, and the ring is neither a water softener nor a certified filter. For very hard water, a water softener remains the recognized solution.

The ceramic EM ring is meant to be used as a simple addition to a pitcher, pet bowl, animal waterer, or rain barrel.

Before using it for the first time, rinse the EM ring, place it in boiling water for about 10 minutes, and let it dry, just as with our other EM ceramics. After that, rinse and brush it regularly under clean water, and let it air-dry from time to time.

A greenish film may form if the water is exposed to light: a quick scrub with a brush is all it takes.

According to the manufacturer, the ceramic EM ring can be used for more than 10 years as long as it isn't physically damaged. If it becomes cracked or chipped, stop using it in drinking water or your pet's bowl. It can then go in the garden or in a flowerpot.

Like all our products, it's covered by the Moutta Farm 2-year warranty.
